Petsmart

Browsing a selection of snacks on the wing.
I'm a big advocate of shopping at local, independant pet stores. In the Puget Sound area we are fortunate to have some really wonderful stores like All the Best, Mud Bay, Paddywhack, Sam's Cats and Dogs, Naturally, and Dog Daze. These stores carry a broad variety of healthy and safe treats and foods, as well as a range of other pet products like collars, harnesses, and toys. These stores also contain educated staff that make it easy to walk out with a healthy product without needing a lot of knowledge about how to tell if a product is high quality or lower quality.
Checking out the sliding glass doors.
Occasionally I head to a big box pet store like Petco or Petsmart. Most of the time it is for socialization purposes, but sometimes I take advantage of the vet clinic's scale in the front to get a weight on the dogs. With that goal in mind, Cody and I visited the downtown Bellevue Petsmart last night.
Sniffing the fish area.
Very interested in food - probably because he hadn't eaten dinner!
Greeting a staff member.
New Valentine's Day toys.
Meeting another staff member - check out that wagging tail!

After we explored the store and met some staff members, we headed to the back for the moment of truth - getting Cody's weight! Before he hit the scales though, we met a very special little dog.
This happy fellow is a senior pug who is very full of love and life. He mostly ignored Cody despite Cody being very interested in him, but he sure wanted some attention from me!! He sat so patiently for me while I took his picture and then gave him some scratches and pets. He is such a sweet guy who was getting weighed in himself - he's a hefty 21 lbs!

So what about Cody? Come back tomorrow to find out!
