My Little Rat Terrier

One of the fun things several foster parent do is choose a naming theme for that year's dogs. It also helps to keep straight which year each dog was adopted! Last years theme was pre-modern cultures. This was inspired by Maya, who is my first rat terrier and the one who made me into a breed devotee. To go along with Maya, we had Inca, Teo (short for Teotihuacan and fostered by Catty Rattie), Moche, Quita (who was Quito until we found out he was a she!) and Cody. We had Lucia and Owen, but these were transfers from other foster parents and so didn't fall into the naming scheme.

So what will this years theme be...?
The "Mane Six" + baby dragon Spike.
Yup. Seriously. I love My Little Pony (MLP) and have since I was a wee girl. MLP used to be a cartoon made to market merchandise and went through several revisions. The current revision, Generation Four, is much less cutesy and stands as its own show that has merchandise, rather than merchandise that has a show. It has charming, funny, loving characters and even as an adult I still watch it with glee and laugh out loud at it.
Princess Celestia and Princess Luna
The characters in My Little Pony are studious, wild, shy, arrogant, overreaching, loyal, and spastic in turn. They sometimes make mistakes, sometimes fight, and sometimes are selfish. Running through it all though is a core of love, honestly, courage, tenacity, intelligence, forgiveness, and a joie de vivre that exemplifies rat terriers. Ratties may not possess the magic to teleport or transform, but they are a magical breed that loves life and their people. Ratties are devoted, cuddly, intelligent, tenacious, and full of energy and attitude.
Princess Cadence and Shining Armor.
But don't worry, the MLP theme will apply only to their names...
We will not be doing this!!
