Jolly Ball

Quite a while ago, I bought my first Jolly Ball for Maya. It is the one in the picture above, a modest 6" diameter ball. We lived in the apartment during this time and so it didn't see a lot of action as I couldn't really throw it for her, and she couldn't chase it very far before it hit a wall.
I pulled it out of storage, and discovered that while Maya loved it as always, so did Lucia! Obviously I needed to get a second Jolly Ball! So this time I got a larger on - 8" diameter ball.
The new 8" ball.
What a hit! Lucia prefers the 6" Jolly Ball and Maya loses her mind over the 8" Jolly Ball. We still play fetch in the backyard regularly, but the Jolly Balls are played with daily. They were so successful I had to get a second 8" diameter one so Lucia could play with a larger one if she wanted! More pictures and videos below!

Sappho's love of balls involves attacking her sister.
Short legs aren't always a disadvantage!

Visitors

Just about one month ago, Karrah and Eric let me take Lucia as my foster girl. They have been following her progress since then, and they have missed her badly. She has such a personality, and is such a loving, engaging little dog. I know that when she gets adopted my house will seem emptier without her presence!

I knew they missed her, but I wanted to give Lucia time to settle into my pack before we brought in Eric and Karrah again. It's important that Lucia bonded to me as her primary caregiver, or else I risked her getting anxiety after Eric and Karrah left due to feeling like her people were leaving her again.
She is settled into our pack though, and I couldn't wait for them to see her progress! We met first in the front room with Sappho and Maya on the other side of the gate. I knew Lucia would be happy to see them, but I didn't know if she might display some resource guarding, or if she would get so excited that she would become anxious around my girls.

After we spent some time in the sitting room, I let the girls come in one at a time. Lucia did fantastic. She focused entirely on Karrah and Eric and beyond a sniff at my girls she didn't pay them any mind.
Knowing how much Lucia loves to play, we moved into the backyard so Lucia could do what she loves best - playing with Eric! They had a wonderful time with the Jolly Balls, and meanwhile Sappho got some loving from Karrah. Sappho will never pass up a chance at getting cuddles!

Second Annual New Rattitude Northwest Rattiefest

Risha (up for adoption!) shows her moves
We held our second annual New Rattitude Northwest Rattiefest this weekend, and what a wonderful time! Our raffle raised $1,380 for our transportation fund to help save more ratties, and we got to see lots of our former foster dogs again! We had some folks stop by who hadn't heard of us too and got to check out our organization. I had so much fun and I am already looking forward to next year!

If you see your pooch below, please let me know who it is and I'll update the caption!
